Work Ethic Camp The Work Ethic Camp program is designed for first-time non-violent male and female offenders who would otherwise be prison bound. The program is based on a 120-day stay, but offenders may be kept up to 180 days. The offenders must be convicted as an adult of a felony offense. They will be sentenced to successfully complete the Work Ethic Camp as a condition of intensive supervision probation. Following their stay at the Work Ethic Camp, the offender will be returned to the community, and probation supervision will continue by local probation staff.

PROGRAMS

The philosophy of the Work Ethic Camp is that behavior and attitude that reflect positive work ethics can be learned and transferred to all areas of an individual's life. Offenders will perform on and off-site community service work. The off-site work will be supervised by a road crew corporal. The offenders performance and behavior will be evaluated daily. Crews will work Monday through Saturday 10-hour days for local and area government and non-profit entities. Programming includes GED/ABE, substance abuse education and treatment, job preparation and cognitive restructuring. An after-care plan will be developed so that the offender will continue any educational or counseling program begun at the Work Ethic Camp.

Because of the intense programming, for the first 30 days offenders will not be allowed visitors or phone calls. After that, visits and phone calls will be limited, although with positive behavior, more privileges are earned. Because of the intense program, offenders will be allowed to possess very few personal items. Cash, televisions and C.D. players will not be allowed. All clothing and hygiene items will be provided to the offenders.

Security Levels: Minimum/Community

VISITING HOURS: Immediate family members only may visit, subject to approval. Please contact a WEC Case Manager.
